A calf’s health is of the utmost importance in the first few weeks of its life. Being healthy as a young animal paves the way for later high performance, robustness and fertility. Clean accommodation with low exposure to bacteria and few pathogens is a building block for success. Especially for ad libitum feeding, the hygienic cleanliness of the water bowl or teat is a key factor. Colostrum Management The feeding of calves during the first days of life or even immediately after birth is crucial for their future development. First milk also known as colostrum, has a higher percentage of immunoglobulins and nutrients compared to normal cow’s milk. Consequently, the new-born calf needs to take higher quanities of the high-quality colostrum straight away. It is recommended that a colostrum store can be created with frozen colostrum. This means that there is always a stock of high-quality first milk available. If the quality of the colostrum after birth is poor (e.g. in heifers) or the amount produced is too low, frozen colostrum can be used instead.

Flexmark Cattle Tail Paint is a general purpose tail paint and animal marker aerosol available in a range of fluorescent colours for maximum visibility. Our unique solvent based formulation ensures a long lasting paint that is quick to dry and doesn’t irritate the animal. The aerosol spray is weather resistant and suitable for use in a wide range of conditions. The Flexmark Cattle Tail aerosol can is fitted with a unique stay-clear spray nozzle - there is no need for the can to be inverted then sprayed out to clear the draw - tube after use.

Flexmark Cattle Tail Paint is an oil based formulation used for the detection of oestrus activity and is available in a range of fluores - cent colours for maximum visibility. The 1L applicator bottle has a shelf life of two years and will typically paint between 80—100 cows. If applied correctly, the paint will usually last up to 28 days (subject to weather conditions). The Flexmark Cattle Tail bottle is fitted with an integrated brush head for easy application to your herd.

Kow-Ball’s spring loaded stainless steel ball acts like a ballpoint pen, marking the mounted cow with a specially formulated non-toxic marking fluid.
