Magnesium & Bloatenz Dispenser

DRU00012 DISPENSER - NO CAN Code Description

1/12

1

The Compsey Dispenser was designed in New Zealand where it has been used successfully for dispensing magnesium sulphate into the drinking water of dairy cows and cattle. Basically it is a simple device and consists of an outlet nozzle and inlet tube fitted to the screw cap of a plastic container. When the container is ¾ filled with a solution heavier than water and floated upside down in a water trough a gradual interchange of liquids takes place. The heavier liquid flows out through the nozzle and water flows into the container through the plastic tube. Some mixing takes place in the container (via the holes in the inlet tube) as the water moves to the top of the container. The volume of liquid in the container remains the same throughout, although the concentration of the solution flowing into the trough will weaken as the dispensing period continues. Guidelines on Use of Dispenser: 1. Water troughs must be at least 14 inches deep to allow dispenser to float. 2. Water flow must be sufficient to maintain water level in trough, so that dispenser floats at all times. It is no harm if nozzle rest lightly on the bottom of trough as there is another outlet on the back of the nozzle. If container falls on its side it will cease dispensing. 3. Stock must have no other water supply other than that which is treated. 4. Nozzle should be inspected regularly for blockage. Instructions for Grass Tetany Control: When cows use the same trough over a 24 hour period use 25 lt container 1. Dissolve 24 hour dose of magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts) say 85 g per cow for 50 cows, ie: 50 x 85 = 4.25 kgs in about 50 lts of hot water. 2. Pour into dispenser through strainer to remove any material that might block the nozzle. 3. Top up dispenser with water to ¾ full. Enough air must be enclosed to allow dispenser to float. 4. Place in trough in upside down position immediately after morning milking 5. When removing the dispenser next morning the contents should be emptied into the trough.

Description

DRU00011 BLOATENZ (5 LITRES)

1/4

Instructions for Bloat Control: 1. Use 120ml Bloatenz per 10 cows per 24 hours. 2. Fill Bloatenz Dispenser drum to two-thirds full with warm water. 3. Add 24 hour dose of Bloatenz (ie 600 ml per 50 cows) and mix very well. 4. Make sure there is sufficient air space in drum to make it float. 5. Place dispenser in trough before morning milking. 6. When removing dispenser from the trough empty remaining contents into drinking water. Stock must have no other water supply other than that which is treated. In the case of trough of over 50 gallon capacity, it is advisable to add a little Bloatenz directly to trough as an initial charge. If changing troughs every 12 hours use half the 24 hour dose.
